Master Sheldon Callahan
Master Sheldon Callahan is a Shaolin Master and wellness educator with over 30 years of training and experience, rooted in direct transmission from Shaolin monks and martial masters. Beginning his journey at age 16, his path has woven together traditional Shaolin Kung Fu with the healing arts of Qigong and Tai Chi, alongside a foundation in gymnastics coaching and movement science.
Master Sheldon is Head Instructor of Shaolin Life, a program of Deep Root Center for Spiritual Studies in Oakland, California, where he teaches Kung Fu, Qigong, Tai Chi, and meditation-integrated training. He also serves as Executive Director of Deep Root Center—originally founded as a Shaolin Buddhist Temple by monks from China’s Shaolin Monastery—carrying forward its legacy as a nonprofit sanctuary for spiritual and wellness studies.
Known for a teaching style that is fun, accessible, and no-nonsense, Master Sheldon makes deep internal principles practical—helping students build self-awareness through embodied practice so they become calmer, clearer, and more capable in everyday life.
Beyond the training hall, Master Sheldon has served as a co-host, presenter, and panelist for the World Resiliency Summit, the World Tai Chi & Qigong Summit, and the 2026 Global Mastery Summit (Mastery Dojo), and has been featured as a guest on The Human Dash Podcast.
